What were your duties as an NCLA intern? I did research for cases the firm is working on and assisted the attorneys with preparing for litigation on various constitutional and administrative law issues.

What did you most enjoy about your internship? The people who work here are both enjoyable to be around and are so committed to NCLA’s incredible mission of defending citizens against the overreach of the administrative state. It’s a good feeling to know that I can help contribute to the crucial work that they’re doing.

What interesting thing(s) did you learn about Administrative Law? I haven’t taken an Administrative Law course yet, so everything we learned here has been an educational experience.

How might you use what you’ve learned later in your professional career? The education in administrative law and seeing how constitutional issues are tackled today has been enlightening for wherever my legal career takes me, and I learned that I really enjoy working within the public interest sphere and getting to use my legal education for a good cause. Additionally, the research, writing, and legal skills learned here will be invaluable.

Any advice for other students who want to intern at NCLA in the future? This is a great place to work around excellent people who are doing integral work. The clerkship program is structured well, and you will have the opportunity to assist on a wide range of issues and will get to learn from everyone at the firm. In addition to all that there is to learn at the NCLA, the clerks are also encouraged to go out and learn from the greater DC legal community.
